Colorado Northwestern Community College has an Open Door Admissions Policy which means that anyone beyond high school age with a desire to learn will be admitted.

Exceptions to the Open Door Policy are the Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Aviation Technology and Aviation Maintenance Technology programs which have specific admissions policies and requirements.

Colorado Northwestern Community College is on a rolling admissions plan which means anyone can apply anytime up until the first day of classes each semester. There is no specific application deadline.

Applications must be sent with high school/college transcripts and (optional) ACT or SAT score.

Exceptions to the Open Door Policy

  • Dental Hygiene - enrollment is limited to 27 students per year.

  • Aviation Technology - must pass an Airman 2nd Class physical performed by a designated FAA physician and attend an aviation orientation.

  • Aviation Maintenance Technology - enrollment is limited to 18 students each year.

  • Nursing Program – enrollment is limited to 24 students per year.

“Potential nursing students must pass the entrance exam to be accepted into the program.  This 3 hour TEAS test is offered every first Friday of the month at 8:30 a.m. in the Bell Tower Building at 50 College Drive in Craig, Colorado.  You must register with Sandy Harding at 824-1132 or darby.mcdermott@cncc.edu in order to take the test.  The cost for this test is $30.00 and must be paid in advance at the bookstore.  This test may be taken anytime before actual admission, but must be passed before May1, 2008 to be accepted into the program for fall of 2008.”

Admissions as a regular student:

Students who are high school graduates, have earned a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.), intend to enroll under the Post Secondary Options Act or have reached the age of 18 may be granted regular admission into Colorado Northwestern Community College. This does not include automatic admission into a particular program due to enrollment limits, academic requirements or selective admissions.

Admission as a special student:

Students who do not meet the requirements for regular admission may be admitted as a special student. Special students are required to complete Colorado Northwestern Community College's assessment testing (writing, math, and reading skills) and demonstrate college-level competencies prior to enrolling. Special students are required to meet with the Director of Counseling and Career Services (Rangely) or the Campus Dean - Registrar (Craig) to plan a class schedule.

Frequently asked questions about the Community College Assigned ID
FAQ's Why is the college assigning identification numbers to all students?
FAQ's

Your Assigned ID will protect the confidentiality of your social security number, thereby protecting your identity and privacy. Social security numbers no longer will be used as the "identifier" for students.

FAQ's What kind of number will it be?
FAQ's Your assigned ID number will be nine digits beginning with an alpha character, for instance A01-123-456. The numbers will be computer generated.

FAQ's Where will I get my new student id?
FAQ's Beginning October 20, 2003, login to cccweb using your social security number and PIN. Once you have logged into the site, click on Assigned Id.

FAQ's What if I use the phone to register?
FAQ's You may use either your social security number or your assigned id, and your existing PIN.

FAQ's How will graduates and former students of Community College be informed?
FAQ's Information will be posted on the Community College System website www.cccs.edu, on the individual Community College websites, and in hard copy flyers at registrar’s offices announcing the Community College Assigned ID project.

FAQ's What if I forget my Community College Assigned ID?
FAQ's Beginning October 20, 2003, login to cccweb using your social security number and PIN. Once you have logged into the site, click on Assigned Id.

FAQ's Will we still use a personal identification number (PIN) in conjunction with the Community College Assigned ID?
FAQ's Yes, to ensure your identity and access security. If you have an existing PIN, it is still valid. You can change your PIN by logging onto cccweb, then go to Change PIN.

FAQ's Will the college still need my social security number?
FAQ's Yes, the college will still collect and maintain social security numbers on the computer system for specific limited purposes. These areas include Admissions, Financial Aid, reporting of wages for students, reporting of H.O.P.E. tax credits and Lifetime Learning tax credits. The social security number will no longer be used in any public way, for example, on your Community College ID (identification card).

FAQ's Will financial aid paperwork still require social security number?
FAQ's Yes, this is a federal policy/law. But, again, the use of the social security number with financial aid will not be made public; it is only for reporting purposes and tracking of loans, etc.

FAQ's What about official Community College transcripts, will they still have social security number on them?
FAQ's Yes, for now, the social security number will still be used on the official Community College transcript. Obviously, the Community College Assigned ID would not help identify a student to other colleges, graduate schools or potential employers.
