Matt Scoggins - Head Coach
A graduate of McPherson College in Kansas, Matt competed in cross country and track at the NAIA-level for four years. Running events from the 800 up to the 10K, he also competed as a member of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs cross country club and has participated in many races and competitions. His background as a student-athlete and in-depth knowledge of the sport are a real asset.
As the coach, Scoggins' goal is to provide an environment where student-athletes can reach their full potential as students and runners. By helping the student-athlete reach his or her potential the cross country program should become one of the top programs in the country known for its athletic and academic accomplishments. With these aspirations for his athletes Scoggins is actively working to build the program.
Building the program from the ground up Scoggins has the advantage of heading the only community college in the state of Colorado to have both a men and women's cross country team. Scoggins said, “We have all the benefits of training in Colorado while providing strong academic programs and the personal touch of a community college. We plan to find those runners who want to develop their potential and have fun at it.”
Scoggins is a CPA and has degrees in Accounting and Business Management.
