Getting Started:
  1. Visit Campus - Discover our student first hospitality by attending S.O.A.R. (Student Orientation, Advising, & Registration). Meet with faculty and staff, and take care of the following:

  3. Complete our Mandatory Assessment and Placement tests - Most students enrolling for the first time at Colorado Northwestern Community College and seeking a degree or certificate will be tested in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Exemptions do apply.

  4. Apply for Financial Aid (Recommended)

  5. Apply for the College Opportunity Fund (COF) - COF is a stipend that pays a portion of your total in-state tuition for undergraduate students.

  6. Meet with your advisor - An academic advisor will explain and help you understand your assessment scores, assist you in academic and career planning, and help you plan a course schedule.

  7. Register for classes - after meeting with your advisor bring your completed registration form to the Admissions Office or register online.

Open Enrollment Policy:
Colorado Northwestern Community College has an "Open Door Admissions Policy" which means that anyone beyond high school age with a desire to learn will be admitted. (There is no specific application deadline.) Exceptions to the Open Door Policy are the Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Aviation Technology and Aviation Maintenance Technology programs which have specific admissions policies and requirements.

Colorado Northwestern Community College is on a rolling admissions plan which means anyone can apply anytime up until the first day of classes each semester.

Applications must be sent with high school/college transcripts and (optional) ACT or SAT score.

  • Dental Hygiene - enrollment is limited to 27 students per year.

  • Aviation Technology - must pass an Airman 2nd Class physical performed by a designated FAA physician and attend an aviation orientation.

  • Aviation Maintenance Technology - enrollment is limited to 18 students each year.

  • Nursing Program enrollment is limited to 24 students per year.
    “Potential nursing students must pass the entrance exam to be accepted into the program.  This 3 hour TEAS test is offered every first Friday of the month at 8:30 a.m. in the Bell Tower Building at 50 College Drive in Craig, Colorado.  You must register with Sandy Harding at 824-1132 or sandy.harding@cncc.edu in order to take the test.  The cost for this test is $30.00 and must be paid in advance at the bookstore.  This test may be taken anytime before actual admission, but must be passed before May1, 2008 to be accepted into the program for fall of 2008.”

 
Admissions as a Regular Student:
Students who are high school graduates, have earned a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.), intend to enroll under the Post Secondary Options Act or have reached the age of 18 may be granted regular admission into Colorado Northwestern Community College. This does not include automatic admission into a particular program due to enrollment limits, academic requirements or selective admissions.
 
Admissions as a Special Student:
Students who do not meet the requirements for regular admission may be admitted as a special student. Special students are required to complete Colorado Northwestern Community College's assessment testing (writing, math, and reading skills) and demonstrate college-level competencies prior to enrolling. Special students are required to meet with the Director of Counseling and Career Services (Rangely) or the Campus Dean - Registrar (Craig) to plan a class schedule.

The Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and the United States Department of Education. 

Aviation programs are certified and supervised by the
Federal Aviation Administration.

Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Academies are certified through the National Park Service; and approved through the Colorado Peace Officers Standards and Training.
