About the College

President's Message

On behalf of Colorado Northwestern Community College, I welcome you to our website. CNCC is a unique college located in a spectacular part of Colorado. Our Rangely Campus is perched on a rocky bluff above the town of Rangely along the White River and close to the Utah border. This welcoming residential campus is home to our five athletic teams, the seasonal park ranger academy, and many associate degree programs. Also on this campus is our signature Dental Hygiene program which is in its 50th year of providing a cutting-edge education to our students. At the nearby Rangely Airport (elev. 5275 ft.), you may join the many others who for several decades have learned to fly and maintain aircraft in our well-regarded programs for Aviation Maintenance Technology and Aviation Flight Technology. We are continuing with expansion of our natural resources program including a new Associate of Applied Science Park Ranger degree. Our competitive rodeo team is now in its second successful year. These are examples—you can explore all our offerings in this website.

In August 2011, we opened our new state-of-the-art campus in Craig. Within three new energy-efficient buildings (including LEED certification), you may study nursing in our fully accredited program. Or you may work in a number of certificate areas in Automotive Technology. Massage Therapy and Cosmetology are taught using the latest equipment. There is much room for our several other career technology and degree programs and many more that will follow as this new campus grows and dramatically expands CNCC‘s ability to serve the Craig and Moffat County communities.

Our classrooms may be located on campus, either in Rangely or Craig (or in our satellite centers in Meeker, Oak Creek and Hayden), but our learning environment is the great outdoors of the entire region of northwest Colorado and northeastern Utah. We have special scholarships along with outdoor trips, activities, and events, all meant to give students unique opportunities for experiential learning, leadership development, and relationship building. As evidence of this challenge, on your first day on campus you may climb to the top of our new 38-foot-high Ropes Course to survey your future!

If you are not able to come to us, let us come to you. We now offer programs and associate degrees through a synchronous learning platform. You can attend live, web-based classes at your computer from home, office, or school. We provide the best of internet classes with the ability to connect live with your instructor and other students. We will be adding other courses through the Virtual Classroom as accreditation and resources permit. The CCCOnline program described in our website also offers hundreds of additional courses through a traditional web-based format.

Our small size gives us the advantage of being able to ensure that our students benefit from all the individual attention you will need to be successful. Our faculty is highly qualified in their fields and all faculty and staff members take pride in helping our students achieve. We offer a safe and welcoming learning environment. I encourage you to browse this website and seriously consider Colorado Northwestern.

2012 is CNCC’s 50th year of proudly providing exceptional higher education and community college experiences and opportunities in Colorado. Come join us as we begin the next 50 years where the “best is yet to come”!
