Lady Spartans Spend Thanksgiving on Road, Pick up Pair of Wins

The Colorado Northwestern Community College Lady Spartans return home from Sheridan, WY where they played 3 games. Facing the home team first, Sheridan College on Nov. 27 the Lady Spartans led by 3 at halftime 34-31 but went cold offensively scoring only 21 points in the second half and shooting 5/24 as a team. CNCC was led by freshman Adriana Trost with 14 points off the bench but it wasn't enough to defeat the Lady Generals, CNCC fell short 55-66. The Lady Spartans enjoyed Thanksgiving day off from play and enjoyed a team meal at a local Sheridan restaurant followed by a trip to the movies. They resumed action in the Sheridan Lions Club Tournament on Friday Nov. 29 to face Malmstrom Air Force Base out of Great Falls, MT. The Lady Spartans jumped out to an early lead holding the Lady Aces to a score of 6 points while scoring 42 by halftime. CNCC had 3 players score in double figures and was led by Kayla Strobel with 16 points. Emoney Brown had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds while sophomore Nyahok Bile registered a double-double of her own with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Spartans went on to defeat the Lady Aces 77-20. The last game of the trip was against the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers. CNCC led by 34-30 a half, then played a very tight 2nd half only outscoring the Lady Lancers 42-41 in the 2nd half for a hard fought 76-71 win. Sophomore guard Kayla Strobel led all scorers with 17 points, while Nyahok Bile had her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Women's Basketball Team Finishes Up Scrimmages & Heads into Season

The Colorado Northwestern Community College Women's Basketball team has wrapped up all the scrimmages on their pre-season schedule. The Lady Spartans had a nice showing in Salt Lake at the Jamboree facing Western Wyoming, Casper College, Carroll College, and Northwest College and then heading down to Grand Junction this past weekend to face the nationally ranked Division II Colorado Mesa University.

With the scrimmages under their  belts, the Lady Spartans are working on fine tuning some things and are ready to travel to Gillette, Wyoming where they open the season on Friday November 1st against Little Big Horn (MT) at 1:30pm.  Then on Saturday November 2nd vs. Gillette College at 5:30pm.
