Content Creation for Staff and Faculty

Note: This information is mainly for indeviduals who edit their content outside of Webmaster approval, all rules still apply to submissions regardless.

Web Site Checklist:


  • Only the fonts Verdana, Arial, and Times New Roman will be used.
  • Font size will be 10pt or higher
  • Only these colors will be used (body text in gray): (Hyperlinks do not apply)
    • Gray {80,80,80}
    • Black {00,00,00} (Preferred Primary)
    • Red {96,1B,1E} 
  • Text must have no more than two alignment formats (Example: Left aligned and right aligned, or left aligned and middle aligned, but no more than two a page)



  • Hyperlinks are not broken
  • Navigation is easy and logical
  • External links will open to a new window and have an asterisk next to the link to indicate an external site.
  • Hyperlinks will not show the internal file path (example: static/common/file.txt ) and will be renamed to whatever the name of the file is.



  • Pictures are compressed and sized correctly (do not resize images in FrontPage/Microsoft Word/paint with their handles, that’s not compression), if unable to compress any pictures please inform the IT department and we will assist in resizing them.
  • The appropriate release forms are signed for all photos and material.
  • Photos must be saved in a universal file format, such as .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png.
  • Pictures are not blurry or distorted


Page Files:

  • Information is current and accurate.
  • Main page titles to include:
    • *Page Title* - *page name*
  • Page size cannot exceed 1.5 MB and must load in a timely manner on a 100 kbps DSL connection.
  • Compatible in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari.
  • Contact information will be included on each page that requires it and will include either an email address or contact number.
  • Any unfinished webpage will have an official “Under Construction” tag if it will be completed within the week, if it will take longer than a week to complete the page, it will be left unpublished.



  • Information that is considered personal information that should not be public knowledge will not be posted on the public website.
  • No personally identifiable information (PII) shall be requested from anyone without prior authorization from whomever information is needed from.
  • Authorized users will be granted an account to create content under supervision if they’re willing to add their own content. Major changes must still be requested to the current webmaster to avoid any issues with the website.
  • Copyrighted material will NOT be tolerated on the website if pulling from an external source without permission from author; any infringements will result in content being pulled along with editing permissions.
  • Permissions of copyrighted materials must be sent to the current webmaster and/or IT Director
  • All submissions to the website must adhere to the guidelines set forth in this document
