Library Collections:

The material collections of the Colorado Northwestern Community College Library include a range of formats, including; books, video recordings, print journal subscriptions, electronic books and journals, maps, multimedia, audio tapes, and CD's and DVD's. The library collection totals more than 26,000 volumes. There are over 230 print magazine, newspaper, newsletter, and journal subscriptions, as well as 27 titles on microfiche. The collection can be searched using the CNCC Library Online Card Catalog which contains all of the records cataloged in the library collections.

The Colorado Northwestern Community College Library has developed areas of collection that have been separated from the main library collection. These collections include the Colorado Western Collection (located in the Colorado History Room), the Native American Collection and the Drama/Theatre Collection. These collections can be searched using the Colorado Northwestern Community College Online Catalog.

To determine if a magazine or journal is owned by the Colorado Northwestern Community College Library, search the title in the CNCC Online Catalog.

The Periodicals Department in the library provides access to magazines, journals, newspapers, and other continuing publications. When you use the Colorado Northwestern Community College Library periodicals list you will see that the library periodicals collection has many titles dating back over five years in several formats. Hard copies of current magazines and journals are on the wall behind the fireplace. Back issues are kept in the periodical room; you must ask a staff member for entrance into this area.

Currently all but one of the computers in the library can access to online periodical databases. These can be accessed through the Online Resources Web page. Use the index databases to find citations to specific articles using subject terms. Although the Colorado Northwestern Community College Library may not subscribe to all of the periodicals listed in this and other databases, articles can be ordered through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Ask at the circulation desk for more details.
