National Park Service S.L.E.T.P Academy - Rangely, CO:

This is an approximately ten week course of study, that when successfully completed, provides the student with 450 hours of training and a Type II L. E. Park Ranger Certification making them eligible to apply for NPS Seasonal Ranger positions. During the academy you receive educational training and certifications: DUI/ HGN(Wet lab), TASER, Patrol Rifle, Radar Operations, ICS, Intro to SAR. Each training session goes on a week long field study camping trip and visits several National Park service areas.
The S.L.E.T.P. Academy is offered twice each year during the spring and summer terms. The summer Academy allows for college students to obtain their Type II
L. E. Park Ranger Certification without interfering with required college coursework.

Instruction
Instruction at the Colorado Northwestern National Park Service approved Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program (S.L.E.T.P.) Academy meets or exceeds Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (F.L.E.T.C.) requirements. We offer additional training for Taser, N.H.T.S.A. DUI/SFST/HGN, patrol rifle (AR-15), radar and certifications that will upgrade your credentials for obtaining seasonal employment. We utilize a Chief Ranger/Mentor for the Academy who will be with you in the classroom, practical exercises and field trips to help you obtain an in depth understanding and appreciation for the L.E. Ranger role within the National Park Service. The Chief Ranger, Staff and Faculty strive to help you gain employment once you have successfully completed the Academy.

Classroom Attire
Our purpose is to achieve a uniform appearance and official presence such as you will be required to maintain with the National Park Service. All students are expected to wear the academy uniform shirt, uniform pants, brown belt, and cordovan boots while in class or during practical field exercises (Contact staff for ordering instructions).
Students are Responsible for the Following:

- Copy of High School Diploma, GED, and, or certified college transcripts/diploma (Please submit with your application package if possible)
