The Colorado Northwestern P.O.S.T. approved Refresher Academy is a two-week program designed for experienced P.O.S.T. certified officers from states other than Colorado, or Colorado P.O.S.T. certified officers whose certification has lapsed, to obtain P.O.S.T. certification or renewal of their certification. The Refresher Academy includes the skills “test-out” requirements for firearms and law enforcement driving and (88) instructional hours. The arrest control “test-out” will be conducted by the hiring agency after you have successfully completed the Refresher Academy and P.O.S.T. final examination. The P.O.S.T. final examination is administered at the end of the Refresher Academy by Colorado P.O.S.T. personnel. Physical training is not a requirement in the Refresher Academy.
A minimum of ten registered students is required for each Refresher Academy fifteen days prior to the start date of the academy. If the minimum number of students is not attained, all registered students will be informed of the class cancellation and refunds will be dispersed. However, if the student withdraws from the course within 30 days of the start date, no refunds will be granted.

It is our expressed hope there will be future interest in the continuance of this outstanding program. We have made every effort to provide the very best educational curriculum with the most qualified and distinguished instructors while keeping the cost at a minimum. The success rate of this course has been exceptionally high; our recent academy students are averaging 85% on the P.O.S.T. final examination with some scores in the high 90’s.

The total tuition cost is $1,700, which is a one time payment in advance of the academy start date, prior to final acceptance to the Academy. The tuition includes required firearms ammunition, uniform shirts, hat, all textbooks and learning materials, skills performance tests (2), and the P.O.S.T. final examination fee ($125).  (CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO 18 STUDENTS)
