As our planet's natural resources face continuing pressure, conservation becomes ever more critical. Wild spaces and natural areas are under increasing pressure from industrial and urban development, recreational activities, agricultural expansion, and energy exploration. In order to meet these going demands, natural resources must be managed effectively and efficiently.
The Associate of General Studies in Natural Resources Management degree is designed to prepare students for careers in this dynamic and rewarding occupation. Important foundational courses form the core of the program. Essential proficiencies are developed in:
- Information technology, e.g. -- GIS science;
- Ecological research methods;
- Technical communications; and
- Statistical measures.
Many students often seek their baccalaureate degree at nearby universities, while others begin working for the many government agencies located in Colorado, such as the BLM or National Park Service.
