The Spartan Times student newspaper was established in 2002. Its purpose is to provide relevant, up-to-date information about the news and events that affect Colorado Northwestern students. In addition to being distributed on both campuses and the service center sites, the Spartan is also published weekly in the county newspaper, the Rio Blanco Herald-Times, and is available online. Each year, various positions become available to students for scholarship or work study funding. Students can also earn up to eight credits of internship for their newspaper work. Current core staff positions are Editor-in-Chief, Copy Editor, Layout-Design Editor, Business Manager, and Art Editor. Newspaper staff positions include Reporter and Photographer.
