Russell George, the new Colo­rado Northwestern Community College President, is looking for­ward to his new position. While George has been in many manage­ment jobs, including directing the Departments of Transportation and Natural Resources, he says that the challenges of this position will not be too different. › Continue reading

Arizona shootings leave students irate

At 10 a.m. on Jan. 8, Jarred Loughner showed up at a Safeway grocery store in Tucson, Ariz. where Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was speaking. Altogether, Loughner is charged with shooting and wounding 19 people, killing six. Among those killed were a 9-year old-girl and a federal judge.

After the shooting, police showed up at Loughner’s house, finding evidence he was planning to assassinate Giffords. Loughner’s motive for wanting to kill Giffords is still unknown because he is not cooperating with police. › Continue reading

A Broncos reflection: 2005 was much better

It was five years ago about this time when quarterback Jake Plummer left INVESCO Field in disappointment after losing the AFC Championship game to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fast forward to 2011. Gone is Plummer, gone is head coach Mike Shanahan. The Broncos are a mess. They have traded away their franchise quarterback Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears (Who lost to Green Bay in the NFC Championship game), traded standout wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins, and fired head coach Josh McDaniels. › Continue reading
