This is Sparta! Basketball teams push through long stretch of road games

While we were in our warm houses sipping hot chocolate, and opening up gifts, the only thing that the CNCC Spartans were opening was a winter break tournament. Only carrying 10 players during the current road trip, the Spartans took on a few teams. Both the men’s and women’s teams played Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Jan. 7, Snow Community College Jan. 8, Northern Idaho Jan.13, and the Number 1 ranked team in the country, Southern Idaho, on Jan.15. While both teams lost their games and the road trip was tough, both players and coaches saw positives. › Continue reading

ORP Aspen ski trip means deep discounts for students

While the Winter X Games are going on at the Aspen Ski Resort Jan. 27-29, the Outdoor Recreation Program (ORP) will taking CNCC students to the same place at the same time. John Bottelberghe, the project manager and director of the ORP, is in charge of taking the group on the trip.

“Basically, we take the people where they need to be and they do what they want,” Bottelberghe says. “Those who go will share the mountain with the Winter X contestants; they just need to avoid the area with the X Games.” › Continue reading

Ask Ayzha: On keeping Mom close…just not THIS close

Dear Ayzha,

This is my first time being away from home for college, and my parents are constantly worried about me. My mom especially! She constantly calls and texts me and if I can’t get back to her right away, she freaks out. It makes me angry, and I can slowly feel my relationship with my mom falling apart. All I want is a chance to be an adult and be independent, but it seems as if she refuses to let me go.  I don’t know what to do, and I’m on the verge of breaking down. PLEASE HELP ME!
