Goodbye Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston died on February 11, 2012 at the age of 48 years old. Whitney Houston left behind her 18 year old daughter Bobbi Kristina.
According to www.msn.com her funeral was held on February 18th at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. This was an invitation only funeral. This church is the same church that she used to sing in when she was a child. There is no plan for a public memorial service at this time. › Continue reading
Faculty spotlight: Michael Dick

Michael Dick came to work at CNCC in the fall of 2011. He is one of the two instructors in the Equine Program and he teaches many of the classes that the second year students take.
Michael was born in Lancaster, KY. He played basketball while he was growing up and all through high school. After high school, he attended Murray State in Kentucky and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Equine Science. › Continue reading

Athletes of the month

Baseball
The baseball athlete of the month goes to Charlie Lutz. Charlie is a right handed starting pitcher and having the most success out of the pitchers so far this season. “Charlie threw really well in both of his starts in Arizona and we had to pull him because of his pitch count and not because of his performance” Head Coach Lou McCollum said. Charlie can’t wait for the season to start so he can keep working on the mound for his team. “I came out in both of my starts and did everything I could to put my team in the best position to win and I plan on doing that for the rest of the season.”
Softball
The softball athlete of the month goes to Whitney Titus. Whitney, also a starting pitcher has gotten the opportunity to have a big effect on the softball teams success here early in the season. “Whitney has been our starter this season, pitching in almost every game so far.” Said assistant softball coach Candra Robie. Coach Robie went on to say “Whitney has been dominate and she has come out and done what she is supposed to do.”
Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball athlete of the month goes to Riley Perish. The big man has been great averaging nearly ten points a game finishing up the season. He has been a rebounding machine as well leading the team in that category. Riley has also been a threat from the three point line which is rare for a post player. “Riley has been playing well for the last month or so and has been the backbone of what we are doing. He has potential to be an all-conference player.”
Women’s Basketball
The women’s basketball athlete of the month goes to Jahnette Epperson. Jahnette just coming off of an injury has bounced back and earned her spot. “She has been very consistent lately coming off her injury also playing a part in some big games for us” Said Head Coach Edwards. Jahnette went on to say “Our season started out really well, we are having kind of a hard time right now but we don’t plan on giving up. I can say I worked really hard after my injury to play again and I had to prove that even though I was hurt I wasn’t going to let anyone down”.
Softball spring opener 2012

Colorado Northwestern’s softball team opened their spring season with a long two week adventure. The trip began in Yuma, Arizona.
During their games in Arizona they grasped two wins starting the season off on the right foot. After Arizona they headed to Las Vegas for some practices in the beautiful warm Vegas weather. Their last stop was St. George, Utah. Over the two weeks on the road they played a total of 18 games. › Continue reading
