Top 10 reasons to join Spartan Times journalism!

    You get to meet great people.

  2. Journalism 180 counts as two elective credits, and you can earn up to eight credits for your degree! How cool is that?
  3. You get to go on way cool trips…such as this fall, we’re going to the Associated Collegiate Press National Convention in Orlando, Fla.!!
  4. Like photos? You can be a photographer.
  5. Or writing? Become a cool reporter. Get your stuff published in your first semester being involved.
  6. If you think you’re really good, join our work study core staff…do the time and get the dime! Art editor, copy editor, and editor in chief positions still open!
  7. We have cookies and pizza at some of our meetings!! J
  8. We have way cool leaders whom you can learn a lot from.
  9. This is a good club to be in if you like to get involved in school activities and like to have your voice heard.
  10. Being involved in Journalism or being on the core staff looks great on resumes and transcript.

These are a few words from some of our journalism staff as to why they love being a part of the Spartan Times!

Alex Mackey (Layout/Design) says that his favorite part about being in journalism is how everyone in JOU is like family to him. “Everyone has a great time together and it’s a lot more than just a class. It’s being able to be with my journalism friends.”

Shelby Almond (Layout/Design): “I like how it helps me get involved with the school and all the new friends I made.”

Shameka Smith (Photographer/ Reporter) said, “My favorite part is learning how to be a writer, and it was all fun at the same time.”

Kindal Cushman (Reporter): “Being involved and getting to see my articles in the paper is the best.”

Michael Dillon (Copy Editor) said that his favorite part is “going on cool trips and getting to meet people around campus.”
