Ask Angel: For the love of the game
By Angel Mataia

Spartans are finding that relationships and sports go hand in hand, each with its own sets of rules and regulations. Some play for fun and the sheer thrill, whereas others are in it to win it, looking for the long haul relationship. Many approach love losses with an attitude of good sportsmanship, making for a clean and easy break while, on the other hand, there are a fair share of sore losers just waiting for their rematch. In love, as in sports, there are cheaters and champions, those who play by the book and others who play dirty. Whether you hate the player or hate the game, if you’re a love MVP or benched due to injury, this edition of “Ask Angel” goes out to you.
Dear Angel ,
I’d like to say that I’m your average guy; when a cute girl walks by, I look. The problem is that every time I get a girlfriend, I have problems with them thinking that I’m checking out other girls…which I am, but it’s not like I chase after them or try to score the girl’s number right then and there. Having a girlfriend means that I’m just dating you, we aren’t married, I just want to know from a girl’s point of view… exactly what am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
What the Heck!
Dear WTH-
When you ask a girl out on a date, most would assume that what you’re essentially saying is “I’m interested in you” not “ I’m interested in you… and maybe her…and her too, and definitely her.” How would you feel walking around with your lady, and she seems to enjoy looking at every other guy on the street besides you?
One thing to remember is there’s a big difference between appreciating the aesthetically pleasing and shopping around. Do you just think that person is attractive, or are you resisting the urge to ditch your date and see what’s new with the hottie walking by? It’s natural to look every now and then, but if there’s a problem with every girlfriend you have…that’s a little excessive.
Try toning it down a bit, exercise some self control, shoot for only looking at two out of every five girls who pass by. It’s doable, and your girlfriend will appreciate the effort. If all else fails and you just can’t fight the feeling…try speed dating and Good luck!
Dear Angel,
My best friend and her boyfriend just broke up. They’ve been having problems for awhile now, and while they were still together, her boyfriend would confide in me a lot. One night he was really upset and came to my house to visit me and ask my advice on what to do about his relationship with my friend. Long story short, emotions ran high and I slept with my best friend’s boyfriend. They broke up not long after that. The breakup was pretty rough. I don’t want to make it worse by admitting to my friend what happened, but I feel so bad about it. What should I do?
Thanks-
Guilty
Dear Guilty,
Considering what you’ve done, the least you could do is to tell your best friend. She trusts you. I don’t think it’s your friend’s feelings that you’re taking into consideration by not telling her, because if you had any consideration for your friend at all, you wouldn’t have hooked up with her boyfriend in the first place. The real reason keeping you from saying anything is that you’re afraid of facing your friend. If you want to save any scrap of your friendship, you’ll tell her sooner rather than later. If she doesn’t want to be your friend after you tell her, would you blame her? I’d say you had it coming.
