The best month of the year, where Cinderellas emerge and powerhouses strive. Where, if you make the big dance, everything else is erased and everyone has a chance. › Continue reading

By Tamekia Hunt, Reporter/Photographer

While we were in our warm houses sipping hot chocolate, and opening up gifts, the only thing that the CNCC Spartans were opening was a winter break tournament. Only carrying 10 players during the current road trip, the Spartans took on a few teams. Both the men’s and women’s teams played Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Jan. 7, Snow Community College Jan. 8, Northern Idaho Jan.13, and the Number 1 ranked team in the country, Southern Idaho, on Jan.15. While both teams lost their games and the road trip was tough, both players and coaches saw positives. › Continue reading

Hard work pays off for basketball programs

Breanna Gibson
Reporter

The basketball programs at CNCC returned from Winter Break on Jan.2, 2010 to get an early start on the second half of the season. Two-a-days, weight lifting, cardio, skill and drill, and regular practice were included in the plan to get players focused on playing again and hopefully getting wins.

“The fact (that the school) didn’t have classes allowed us to have more time to work on the things that stopped us last semester,” says men’s head coach Adrian Hayes.  › Continue reading
