The Local Area

As the name suggests Colorado Northwest Community College is tucked away in the most northwestern part of Colorado. The college consists of two campuses in rural communities situated about 90 miles apart. Nestled in local river valleys and surrounded by millions of acres of public lands, soaring mountains and picturesque bluffs that provide a beautiful backdrop to a unique educational experience.

The Rangely Campus serves around 300 students and sits on a lush mesa overlooking the town of Rangely. Established in 1962 as “Rangely College,” it has earned a sterling reputation for its Dental Hygiene, Aviation, and Park Ranger Training Programs. Often described as a “mini university” the Rangely campus has residence halls, a vibrant student life, and seven NJCAA Division I athletic teams including Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Cross Country, Wrestling, and Volleyball.

A full array of outdoor activities and programs are available to students, including river rafting, ice climbing, camping, and even spelunking. Minutes from the deep canyons and rock formations of Dinosaur National Monument, Rangely is the center of life in this vibrant natural resource area of Colorado.
