Important Information to Know

On-line Developmental Courses

The VA will not pay for online developmental courses (Any class that starts with a 0, (like MAT 050). If you register for these courses, you will be responsible for paying for them and they will not apply toward your housing or stipend from the VA. (On campus developmental classes will be covered.)

Term Date Eligibility

Term dates are reported as they appear in the class schedule. Accelerated courses may affect your eligibility. You can calculate your VA Equivalent Hours for classes that are less than 15 weeks to determine your VA rate of pursuit based on the length of your classes and their credit hours.

VA Benefits Application Process

In addition to completing the application process, please also submit:

  • VA Educational Benefit Certification Request for each semester you would like CNCC to certify your enrollment with the VA.
  • Military Transcripts
  • Official Transcripts from all colleges previously attended
  • Certificate of Eligibility (or letter of entitlement from the VA)
    • To obtain your Certificate of Eligibility go to the VA website at https://benefits.va.gov/gibill/ and fill out the VONAAP (Veterans Online Application and Change of Place or Program).

CNCC complies with the Department of Educations regulations regarding readmission for Service members and reservists under 34 C.F.R. 668.18. For more information contact Jessica Wollman.

CNCC complies with Title 38 Section 3679(e) and will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual's inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the institution due to the delayed disbursement funding from VA under chapter 31 or 33.

The evaluation of previous postsecondary education and training is mandatory and required for VA beneficiaries.  For students utilizing Veterans benefits who are approved for transfer credit as a result of this evaluation, the institution will grant appropriate credit, reduce the program length proportionately, notify the student and Veterans Affairs in writing of this decision, and adjust invoicing of the VA accordingly. 

VA students' records must be kept for 3 years following the ending date of the last period certified to VA. Referenced law: Title 38 CFR 21.4209(f)
