At CNCC, we’re committed to providing equal access to education for all students. We support and comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Our goal is to create inclusive learning environments through reasonable accommodations and support services.
Accommodations may include auxiliary aids, academic modifications, and services such as:
- Extended test time
- Alternative testing locations
- Note-taking assistance
- Accessible course materials
All accommodations are determined based on individual needs, available resources, and whether they impact essential course elements.
Important Notes:
- Accommodations must be based on a documented disability that substantially limits a major life activity.
- Accommodations from other institutions may not transfer directly to CNCC.
- All requests are reviewed for reasonableness and appropriateness.
How to Request Accommodations
Step-by-Step Process
- Talk to the ADA Coordinator
- Visit Student Services on your campus.
- Let them know you have a disability and need support.
- Apply for Accommodations
- Fill out the Application for Accommodations. Staff is available to assist you in this process.
- Provide documentation of your disability (see documentation requirements PDF).
- Meet to Discuss Your Needs
- The ADA Coordinator will review your needs and suggest accommodations.
- Temporary Help
- If you're unsure whether you have a disability, you may receive temporary accommodations for one semester while you gather documentation.
- Get Your Instructor Letter
- If your accommodations affect your classes, the ADA Coordinator will give you a letter to share with your instructors. They will also share the letter directly with your instructors.
Common Accommodations include but are not limited to:
- Extended test time
- Alternative testing locations
- Note-taking support
- Alternative text formats
Important Note: It is strongly recommended to complete the application process before the semester begins to ensure timely support.
Requesting Housing Accommodations
If you need accommodations in the Residence Halls, the ADA Coordinator will help verify your need.
Requesting Event Accommodations
For CNCC-sponsored events, contact the ADA Coordinator at least 2 weeks before the event.
Requesting a Service or Assistance Animal
